Compatible printers
EtiquetaChef prints to Bluetooth thermal printers that use the TSPL protocol — in the Android app and in the iPhone and iPad app. It is not "any printer": check here whether yours fits the workflow before subscribing.
Supported protocol
EtiquetaChef prints in TSPL, the most common thermal protocol on label printers. This applies to the Android app and to the iPhone and iPad app.
Does your operation use another protocol, such as CPCL, ESC/POS or ZPL? It is available on request: talk to our sales team so we can assess your case.
Connection
On Android the link is over Bluetooth Classic (SPP profile). On iPhone and iPad it is over Bluetooth LE (GATT), because iOS does not expose SPP to third-party apps — the models we use speak both. Neither path needs a Wi-Fi network or a server. Printers that only do USB or only Wi-Fi are not compatible today.

Several brands have TSPL models. The brand alone is no guarantee — what matters is that the model speaks TSPL and has Bluetooth:

How to confirm your printer
Before buying or subscribing, check the printer spec sheet for:
- TSPL support;
- Bluetooth Classic (SPP) for Android, and Bluetooth LE (GATT) for iPhone and iPad;
- support for the label size you use.
What is not supported
To avoid surprises:
- printing from the web dashboard — printing always happens in the mobile app;
- printers without TSPL — other protocols only on request to our sales team;
- USB-only or Wi-Fi-only connection.
